The park sits on 364 acres, features more than 100 rides, and boasts 15 roller coasters, including more wooden coaster track than any other theme park in the world. It’s no coincidence that Coaster101 just named Kings Island its 2026 Park Mania Champion — the second year in a row.
So what’s actually worth riding? Here’s a rundown of the must-do coasters:
Orion — The Giga Giant
If you’re only riding one coaster this summer, make it Orion. One of just a handful of “giga coasters” on Earth, Orion drops riders a jaw-dropping 300 feet and rockets them along 5,321 feet of track at speeds up to 91 mph. It’s smooth, fast, and over almost before your brain can process what just happened. Pure adrenaline — no rough edges, no gimmicks. Just speed.
Banshee — Hanging on for Dear Life
Banshee is the world’s longest inverted coaster — meaning your feet are dangling freely as you twist through seven inversions at 68 mph. The ride is surprisingly smooth for how intense it looks, and the sweeping layout through the park’s terrain makes every foot of its 4,124-foot track count. First-timers and coaster veterans alike consistently rank it among their favorites.
Diamondback — Airtime Machine
If you love that stomach-dropping, seat-leaving sensation known as “airtime,” Diamondback is your ride. At 230 feet tall with a 215-foot first drop and 10 total drops, this steel beauty hits 80 mph and ends with a dramatic splashdown — a crowd-pleasing finale that’s become a Kings Island signature.
Mystic Timbers — The Mystery Wooden Coaster
Opened in 2017 and still one of the most beloved rides in the park, Mystic Timbers is a wooden coaster themed around an abandoned lumber company with a mysterious past. It packs 16 airtime moments into 3,265 feet of fast, smooth track — and ends with a trip into “The Shed,” where something unexpected awaits. We won’t spoil it.
Kings Island opens for its 2026 season on April 18 and runs through October 31.
Stricker’s Grove — A Hidden Gem in Hamilton
Just up the road in Hamilton, Ohio, Stricker’s Grove is a beloved family-owned private amusement park with a charm all its own. The park features two classic wooden roller coasters, including the famous Tornado — designed by the legendary Al Collins and built by Ralph Stricker himself.
